Innovation Group’s Gary De Groot hosts an interactive roundtable session on what attracting, retaining and developing talent looks like within the Insurance Industry today. Gary will be joined by colleagues Peter Shortland, Jessica Power and Tim Monaghan.
During this session the team will be looking into the challenges we face today as an industry when it comes to recruiting new talent, and how we will look to achieve this moving forwards. Thinking about the everyday issues we all face, such as an aging workforce, appealing to the “new” graduates of today and of course, ever-adapting technology. The widening skills gap and changes to ways of working have handed candidates a major “power shift” and a more competitive approach to retaining employees and recruiting new talent is needed more than ever.

About the Presenters
Gary De Groot – Growth Director
Gary joined the business in 2019 and is Growth Director at Innovation Group. He has worked his whole career in claims, having performed a number of roles across Claims Handling, Account Management and Sales.
Gary has worked alongside some of the UK’s largest motor and property MGAs and has detailed insight into what makes many of them so successful.
Peter Shortland – Business Services Director
Peter is a chartered Loss Adjuster with over 40 years’ claims experience dealing with major first party property and third-party property work from Public, Products and Professional Indemnity claims. Peter started his career with Commercial Union before venturing into loss adjusting in the mid-1980s. Peter has worked for small UK practices and also larger international businesses, before starting up Warwick Loss Adjusting (now Innovation Group Loss Adjusting).
Jessica Power – Talent Acquisition Partner
Jessica joined Innovation Group in July 2024, bringing a decade of specialised experience in recruiting within the insurance claims market, having spent 9 years at an executive search firm. With a deep understanding of the industry, Jessica is now focused on talent acquisition and leading internal recruitment projects. Her expertise allows her to provide detailed insights into the recruitment landscape, helping to attract and retain top talent in the field.
Tim Monaghan – Talent Development Manager
Tim Monaghan joined Innovation Group in 2021 and brings over 20 years of experience in recruitment, Talent Management, and Learning and Development (L&D). Prior to his current role, Tim was a Director at a Dorset-based recruitment agency, where he successfully guided the company to achieve a Times Top 20 Business to Work For award. Throughout his career, Tim has recruited for a variety of sectors, including Commercial, IT, and Industrial positions, showcasing his versatility and expertise in the field.
Tim is known for his strategic approach to talent acquisition and his ability to foster strong relationships with both clients and candidates. His deep understanding of the recruitment landscape and commitment to continuous improvement have made him a trusted advisor in the industry.
