K2 International is the London Market underwriting arm of US based K2 Insurance Services LLC. Since 2011 K2 has assembled a core group of specialty insurers and MGAs located across the US with the objective of creating a leading underwriting and distribution franchise in the program market. In April 2020 K2 completed its first overseas acquisition, establishing K2 International. K2 International currently underwrites Financial Institutions, Property Cat and Property D&F business on behalf of, amongst others, Everest Re, Renaissance Re & Lloyd’s, with a premium volume estimated to be approx. USD 200m in 2023, roughly 12.5% of the overall K2 portfolio.
In May 2023, Warburg Pincus, a New York based global private equity firm, acquired a majority interest in K2 Insurance Services. The investment will support K2’s continued growth strategy, including M&A and de-novo incubation, and its commitment to offering best-in-class services to clients. K2 has 25 MGAs writing approx. USD 1.5bn premium in 2023, supported by a growing and diverse panel of high-quality capacity providers.
