MGAA 2019 Conference

Survival of the Fittest

2 July 2019 - Houndsditch - London

“It is not the strongest or the most intelligent who will survive but those who can best manage change”

Over the last 12 months the insurance industry, and consequently the MGA sub-sector, has seen the most change - or perceived change - since the MGAA was formed nearly 10 years ago in 2011. But the big question remains, are we seeing the start of a market wide hardening or is it the tailwinds of pricing corrections in the under-performing classes? Either way, these changes have and will continue to impact our sector; and with it bring both threats and opportunities.

Either way, these changes have and will continue to impact our sector; and with it bring both threats and opportunities.

Overlay these changing attitudes, the Lloyd’s Decile 10 review and a couple of high profile start-ups with Brexit, insuretech, Inclusion & Diversity, broker consolidation and regulatory changes - to mention a few - you can see why the old adage ‘survival of the fittest’ has never been more appropriate.

This year’s conference will explore all of those topics and more!

Highlights

The MGAA hosted another very successful Conference with over 700 members in attendance.

We were honoured to have both John Neal, CEO at Lloyd’s and the BBC’s Kate Adie as keynote speakers on the day.

We welcomed 80 member companies as part of the Exhibition. Our headline Sponsor, Connexus Group, held 2 panel session, while the Next Gen hosted a Mentoring and Mental Health Session. We were also privileged to be able to present a Question Time session featuring a panel of top industry figures.
